The AACR-Waun Ki Hong Award for Outstanding Achievement in Cancer Research

Dear Friend,

Many of us have come across a mentor who has changed our lives. Dr. Waun Ki Hong is one of those physicians whose unwavering commitment to his students, residents, fellows, patients, and cancer research has inspired thousands. I personally am eternally grateful for his guidance, mentorship and friendship as I embarked on my career. Please join me and the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) in honoring the illustrious career of Dr. Waun Ki Hong.

The AACR-Waun Ki Hong Award for Outstanding Achievement in Cancer Research will be announced at the AACR Annual Meeting 2016 in April. The award will recognize the stellar scientific achievements of young investigators who have not yet reached the age of 46 years at the time of the award and also embody Dr. Hong’s steadfast vision and dedication. The first recipient of the award will be announced at the 2017 Annual Meeting.

Our goal is to raise $500,000 to establish this important award in perpetuity. Please consider a gift to honor Dr. Hong and his commitment to cancer patients, cancer research, and the professional development of many brilliant scientists and clinicians who will continue his passion for finding the cure for all cancers.

Dr. Hong has touched the lives of his colleagues, students, and patients in so many ways. He continues to mentor and train nationally and internationally respected physicians and physician-scientists, and I am proud to support this named award in honor of his legacy.

I also encourage you to join a newly established professional group on LinkedIn that was created specifically for Dr. Hong’s fellows and mentees. Click the button below and “request to join” the group. A LinkedIn account is required to join the group.

Should you have any questions or would like more information about the award, please contact Mitch Stoller, Executive Director, AACR Foundation at (215) 446-7207.

I thank you in advance for your support.

With warm personal regards,
Ravin Garg, MD
