HOME>About KCA>Greetings

Dear Korean Cancer Association Members,

This year of 2018 marks the 44th anniversary of the founding of 'Korean Cancer Association' and also the 60th anniversary of its former organization 'Korean Cancer Research Association. At this important time, we are honored to lead the KCA for the next 2 years. We have set a goal with confidence that we will make the KCA a greater association by embracing the challenge and frontier spirit of our former presidents. Then we will pass on the pride that we have in this generation into the initiatives of the next.

There is a big difference between 'I would like to do it' and 'I can do it'. We will not stop just hoping for something that we would like to do, but we will set a clear goal that we can surely achieve and build a solid basis in which we can support KCA's inner values and academic pursuits for the next generation's growth.

Firstly, we have a realistic and future-oriented vision that KCA will continue to become international by playing a significant role in line with other nations' oncology societies for the next global generation. As a multidisciplinary association, we will also encourage all the members to respect each other's diversity and get involved in different interests with an open-mind. For this, KCA will approach you first so that you can feel at ease in participating in any activity. As our primary purpose for cultivating young talented researchers, we will serve as the best possible foundation towards disciplinary convergence, where both entry-level and leading researchers can broaden their perspectives, and experience newly advanced medical fields and technologies.

We believe that the results of translational research should be put to practical use. Central for translational research, KCA will build a strong network where basic scientists, basic medical & pharmaceutical scientists, and clinicians can gather to discuss new critical issues and seek for new ways to develop oncology for a better future, and eventually hope to direct the fundamentals of clinical oncology.

We hope that you will actively participate and support in what we promise to be a fruitful future for the KCA.

Thank you.
